Abstract
Job satisfaction is an important concern in human resource management in industry and organisations. Based on previous research, employee job satisfaction is related to work motivation, productivity, and employee turnover. This study aims to determine how work-family conflict affects the job satisfaction of contract employees at PT.X. The participants in this study consisted of 321 contract employees at PT.X who were selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used in this study were the Work Family Conflict Scale to measure the work-family conflict variable and the Job Satisfaction Scale to measure job satisfaction. The regression test results show that work-family conflict has a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction with a standardised regression coefficient of -0.578 and R² of 0.334 (p < 0.001). The higher the work-family conflict experienced by female contract employees, the lower their job satisfaction. This study supports Spector's theory that work-family conflict is one of the factors that influence job satisfaction. In addition, this study is expected to serve as a basis for formulating company policies regarding employee job satisfaction.
