Abstract
Environmental issues are increasingly emphasized by society due to increasingly frenzied human activities, causing ecological damage such as pollution, pilles of garbage, and the depletion of natural resources. Music can be a communication tool that spreads social messages to many people. For example, the song “Telan” by FSTVLST, whose lyrics describe various socio environmental issues. This study aims to describe the social environmental issues evident in the song’s lyrics, as a way to spread social messages through music. Analyze each stanza of the lyrics. Data were collected through song text documentation, then analyzed using Krippendorff’sThe concept focuses on analyzing the social environmental issues represented through the song’s lyrics, as a means of disseminating social messages via music. It involves analyzing each verse of the lyrics. Data was collected through documentation of the song’s text and analyzed using Krippendorff’s content analysis stages to find the meaning in each stanza. The results, the lyrics of “Telan” address issues such as environmental pollution, waste and garbage problems, forest destruction due to natural resource exploitation, and river pollution that damages ecosystems. These issues are examined through word choice and metaphors that satirize human behavior and development systems that are indifferent to environmental sustainability. In essence, the song “Telan” becomes a communication tool that provides social criticsm regarding environmental problems in society.
