Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of implementing the Discovery-Based Learning model assisted by GeoGebra software in supporting junior high school students’ spatial ability on the topic of triangle congruence. In line with the research objective, this study employed a mixed-method approach with a case study design, combining both quantitative and qualitative data. The participants were 16 eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Karangploso, Malang Regency. The data collection instruments included observation sheets to assess the implementation of Discovery-Based Learning and the use of GeoGebra, a mathematical spatial ability test to measure students’ spatial ability, and student interviews to obtain supporting data from the test and observation results. The findings indicated that the implementation of the Discovery-Based Learning model assisted by GeoGebra software was effective in supporting students’ spatial ability. This was evidenced by the excellent implementation of the learning syntax, the optimal use of GeoGebra, and students’ spatial ability levels that ranged from good to very good.
