Abstract
This study was motivated by the low emotional intelligence of some students at MTs Bustanul Ulum, as indicated by undisciplined behavior, difficulty focusing, and suboptimal emotional regulation. The study aimed to identify the characteristics of respondents and analyze the influence of Islamic Religious Education on the development of adolescents’ emotional intelligence. This research employed a quantitative method with data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires analyzed using the Pearson correlation test. The results showed that there were differences in emotional intelligence levels based on gender, where female students had higher emotional intelligence than male students. In addition, age also had a positive effect on emotional intelligence, indicating that the older the individuals, the better their emotional regulation abilities. Family environmental factors, particularly parents’ occupational backgrounds, also contributed to the development of students’ emotional intelligence. Furthermore, the analysis revealed a strong positive relationship between Islamic Religious Education and emotional intelligence, with a correlation coefficient value of r = 0.667 and a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). This indicates that the better the Islamic Religious Education received, the higher the students’ emotional intelligence. Islamic Religious Education plays a role in shaping values such as empathy, patience, and self-control, which serve as the foundation for the development of emotional intelligence. Thus, it can be concluded that emotional intelligence is influenced by both internal and external factors, and Islamic Religious Education has an important role in shaping students’ emotional development. Therefore, synergy between formal education, family, and the social environment is needed to optimally develop emotional intelligence.
