Abstract
Distance marriage is a challenge for married couples, especially for a wife. With these challenges, couples must have optimal marital satisfaction. One of the things that can affect marital satisfaction is self-openness. This study aims to determine the effect of self disclosure on marital satisfaction in wives who are in long-distance marriages. This study used a quantitative approach involving 328 subjects in the study. The data collection technique was carried out with the purposive sampling technique with the criteria of wives who have undergone a long distance marriage, undergone marriage for more than one year, and lived separately both in cities, provinces, islands, and countries. This study uses the Revised SelfDisclosure Scale (RSDS) and the ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Scale (EMS). The results of a simple linear analysis showed that self-disclosure had a positive and significant influence on marital satisfaction with a value of F = 15.010 and a significance of p < 0.000. The determination value (R²) after 0.047 shows that the contribution of self-disclosure to marital satisfaction is 4.7%. The results of the relationship test also showed that the honesty-accuracy aspect was the most dominant aspect with the highest correlation coefficient value, which was r = 0.222 (p < 0.001)
