Abstract

The development of information technology has led to the emergence of increasingly complex online gambling crimes and poses challenges for law enforcement officials, particularly in the investigation process. Investigation is a series of actions by investigators to search for and collect evidence to clarify a crime and identify suspects. One important stage in the investigation process is the initial action at the crime scene. This study aims to determine the application of investigators' authority in carrying out the initial action at the crime scene for online gambling crimes at the Malang City Police Headquarters. This study is a sociological juridical study using data collection methods through interviews with investigators from the Malang City Police Mobile Brigade Unit and literature review. The results indicate that the initial action at the crime scene is more focused on confiscating electronic devices, while comprehensive security of the crime scene, including the installation of police line has not been implemented optimally, potentially affecting the integrity of digital evidence and the evidentiary
process.
