Abstract

Construction projects often face delays that lead to increased costs and failure to meet scheduled completion targets. One method that can be applied to address this issue is the Time Cost Trade Off (TCTO), which analyzes the relationship between time and cost to determine the most efficient acceleration alternative. This study aims to analyze the project acceleration duration, calculate the total cost after acceleration, and compare the costs before and after the implementation of the TCTO method in the construction project of the Majelis Rakyat Papua (MRP) Building in Kota Sorong, Southwest Papua. The research methodology involves the collection of primary and secondary data, including the Budget Plan (RAB), S-curve, and weekly project reports. The analysis is conducted by determining the normal duration, calculating the crash duration, crash cost, and cost slope of activities on the critical path, with acceleration alternatives in the form of adding overtime work of 2 hours and 4 hours per day. Furthermore, duration compression is carried out based on the lowest cost slope values to obtain the optimal combination of time and cost. The results indicate that project acceleration through the addition of overtime work can significantly reduce the project duration; however, it is accompanied by an increase in direct costs. The most efficient acceleration alternative is obtained from the optimal balance between time and cost, where the addition of overtime hours has varying impacts depending on the cost slope of each activity. Therefore, the TCTO method is proven to be effective in supporting decision-making for project acceleration by considering the balance between time and cost.
