Abstract

This research is based on a phenomenon in the fitness world, where interpersonal relationships play a crucial role in maintaining members' consistency in living a healthy lifestyle. This study aims to describe how interpersonal communication between personal trainers and members builds motivation for a healthy lifestyle at Fitness Plus Dinoyo, Malang.
This research used a qualitative approach with descriptive research and a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with two pairs of personal trainers and members, as well as field observations. The results indicate that effective interpersonal communication relies not only on exercise instructions but also on empathy and openness. Furthermore, communication extends to the digital realm through WhatsApp and Instagram as a means of monitoring outside of training. This ongoing interaction strengthens members' trust and responsibility in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, direct proximity and digital support are important factors in fostering more consistent motivation.
