Abstract

Tanjung Bara Airport is an airport located in Singa Gembara village, North Sangatta sub-district, East Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan province. It is one of the main airports serving as a gateway for industrial and commercial activities in East Kutai Regency. The airport currently has a runway length of 900 x 18 meters, and the largest aircraft currently served at Tanjung Bara Airport is the Twin Otter DHC 400. Tanjung Bara Airport currently occupies an area of 40 hectares, with a total land requirement of 92 hectares. In the future, routes from Sangatta to Berau and Sangatta to Makassar will be opened. Therefore, it is planned to develop the runway using the ATR 42-600 aircraft type to meet existing needs and calculate its pavement using the CBR and FAA methods. According to the ARFL (Airplane Reference Field Length), the length of the Tanjung Bara Airport runway after the extension plan using the ATR 42-600 aircraft will be 1329 x 30 meters. To calculate the flexible pavement, the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) method was used, resulting in a pavement thickness of 22 inches or 64 cm. Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) method resulted in a pavement thickness of 19 inches or 48 cm. Based on the calculation of the budget plan for the development of Tanjung Bara Airport using the FAA method, the cost required is Rp. 25,427,783,881.
