“CAUSE AND EFFECT SELF STIGMA” ORANG DENGAN HIV/AIDS (ODHA) DI YAYASAN CAHAYA KASIH PEDULI WARGA PEDULI AIDS TUREN KABUPATEN MALANG

This study aims to identify the causes of self stigma and analyze its impact on the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) at the Cahaya Kasih Peduli WPA Turen Foundation, Malang Regency. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study. Data collection techniques were carried out through indepth interviews, observation, and documentation, with subjects selected using a snowball sampling technique. The results showed that self stigma in PLWHA is formed through internalization of social stigma, experiences of discrimination, lack of social support, and low understanding of HIV/AIDS. Forms of self stigma that arise include feelings of shame, guilt, low self-esteem, self doubt, fear of having no future, and feelings of being unworthy of life. The impact of self-stigma includes psychological disorders such as anxiety, depression, paranoia, low self esteem, decreased adherence to taking ARV medication, and the emergence of suicidal thoughts.
