Abstract

The phenomenon of the widespread sound horeg activities in various regions of East Java in recent years has drawn public attention because sounds with very high intensity have the potential to cause noise that affects psychological conditions, particularly stress among adolescents. On one hand, this activity is seen as a source of environmental disturbance; on the other hand, for adolescents involved, it serves as a means of entertainment, social interaction, and self-expression. This study aims to determine the influence of adolescents' involvement in sound horeg activities on stress. This research employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research participants consisted of 253 adolescents involved in sound horeg activities in East Java, selected through purposive sampling techniques. The research instruments used were the personal involvement inventory scale and the perceived stress scale. The regression test results indicate that adolescent involvement has a negative effect and significant on stress with a standardized regression coefficient of -0.696 and an R² value of 0.485 (p < 0.001). The higher the adolescents' involvement in sound horeg activities, the lower the level of stress they experience. These findings indicate that sound horeg activities are not always perceived as a source of psychological pressure, but can also provide social and recreational experiences for the adolescents involved.
