Abstract

This study aims to analyze user experience related to narrative features in digital games, specifically in Honkai: Star Rail. The narrative features examined include dialogue, quests, cutscenes, and user interfaces that support storytelling. This research employs a qualitative approach using a phenomenological method to explore users’ subjective experiences. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with five respondents who are active players of Honkai: Star Rail, aged between 18 and 35 years. The data were analyzed through data reduction, categorization, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that narrative features play a significant role in shaping user experience. Dialogue helps players understand the storyline, although it is sometimes considered too lengthy. Story-based quests enhance user comfort and engagement. Cutscenes significantly contribute to emotional immersion. Additionally, user interfaces that support narrative elements improve accessibility and overall playing comfort. Overall, narrative features positively influence user engagement and satisfaction. However, improvements are needed in dialogue delivery to enhance user comfort.
