This research explores the application of Thematic Analysis (TA) in understanding public perceptions or opinions and emerging attitudes towards political debates in online comment sections. This research aims to identify patterns and themes in qualitative data to provide insights into how netizens perceive political discourse and evaluate political candidates. The research used a flexible and iterative approach, combining various theories and methods to ensure methodological rigor and validity in content analysis. The findings of this study indicate a significant level of skepticism among netizens, who questioned the authenticity of the comments and expressed doubts about the effectiveness of political debates in addressing real issues. The research underscores the importance of examining historical records and narratives to make proper evaluations of political candidates, highlighting the impact of low political participation on the democratic process.
