Abstract

K-pop communities in Indonesia have developed rapidly and have become social spaces that provide emotional support, a sense of belonging, and opportunities for their members to express themselves in a safe environment, thereby creating positive experiences that can influence individuals’ levels of self-confidence. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of sense of community on self confidence among K-popers in Indonesia. This study employs a quantitative non-experimental method with simple linear regression analysis. The instruments used in this study are the Sense of Community Index 2 (SCI-2) and the Self Confidence Scale. The research subjects were obtained using a purposive sampling technique, with the criteria of being K-pop fans, still following information related to K-pop idols, having participated in K-pop community activities both online and offline at least once, aged 15–25 years, residing in Indonesia, and being Indonesian citizens. A total of 413 respondents were collected, with the results showing that sense of community has a significant positive effect on self-confidence of 55.2% (R² = 0.552). This result indicates that a sense of community plays an important role in enhancing self-confidence, so interest-based communities can support individuals’ psychological development.
