Abstract

Abstract. This study was motivated by the receptive language difficulties experienced by children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), characterized by difficulties in understanding instructions, adjectives, and the concepts of sameness and difference, which hinder the learning and communication processes in the classroom. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of the token economy method using flashcards in improving receptive language skills in children with ASD. This study employed a quantitative experimental approach using a Single Subject Research (SSR) design with an A–B–A pattern. The study subject consisted of one child with ASD who had been diagnosed by a physician specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (SPKFR). The intervention was administered gradually with consistent reinforcement and structured visual stimuli. The results showed an improvement in receptive language skills following the intervention compared to the baseline phase. These findings indicate that the token economy method using flashcards is effective in improving receptive language skills in children with ASD. Further research is recommended to explore other aspects, such as social-emotional skills, and to involve the roles of teachers and parents in supporting the sustained development of receptive language skills in children with ASD in both home and school environments.
