Abstract
Fanaticism and verbal aggressive behavior have become significant issues within football supporter communities, particularly in relation to attachment to idols and expressions of verbal hostility. Fanatical individuals tend to exhibit a high level of interest and affection toward their groups, accompanied by strong emotional attachment. This condition can potentially lead to the emergence of verbally aggressive behavior as a form of negative expression, which may harm others. This study aims to examine the effect of fanaticism on verbal aggressive behavior among football supporters. The research employed a quantitative correlational method, with data analyzed using simple linear regression. The instruments used were a fanaticism scale and the Verbal Aggressiveness Scale (VAS). The results indicate a significant effect of fanaticism on verbal aggressive behavior among football supporters (β = -0.551; p < 0.001). This finding suggests that higher levels of fanaticism are associated with lower levels of verbal aggressive behavior among supporters.
