Abstract
Drug abuse remains a serious issue due to the high risk of relapse prevention after rehabilitation, highlighting the importance of psychological factors that support long-term recovery. This study aimed to examine the effect of self-esteem on resilience and to test the moderating role of relapse prevention in this relationship among former drug users. A quantitative correlational design was employed in this study. The participants consisted of 375 former drug users who had abstained from drug use for at least three months and had previously participated in rehabilitation program. Data were collected using the Brief Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and the Drug Relapse prevention Scale. Data analysis was conducted using Moderated Regression Analysis. The results indicated that self-esteem had a positive and significant effect on resilience. Relapse prevention also showed a significant direct effect on resilience. However, the interaction effect between self-esteem and resilience. These findings suggest that self-esteem and relapse prevention function as independent predictors of resilience. The study implies that strengthening self-esteem and relapse prevention skills simultaneously is essential in post-rehabilitation programs to enhance psychological resilience among former drug users.
