Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of capital structure, liquidity, and profitability on financial distress in transportation and logistics companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2022–2024 period. The study employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory approach. The data used were secondary data in the form of company financial reports obtained from the official Indonesia Stock Exchange website. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, resulting in 31 companies as research samples with a total of 93 observations during the study period. The outlier test used the Z-score method, resulting in 83 observations analyzed. Data analysis was performed using binary logistic regression with SPSS 27 software. The results showed that capital structure and liquidity did not significantly influence financial distress. Profitability, as measured by Return on Assets, has a negative and significant effect on financial distress, indicating that the higher a company's profit-generating ability, the lower the likelihood of experiencing financial distress. The findings provide academics with a valuable resource to enrich the literature on financial distress, particularly regarding the role of capital structure, liquidity, and profitability in explaining the risk of financial distress in transportation and logistics companies. The research also provides implications for companies to further improve profitability performance to mitigate the risk of financial distress, as well as for investors and potential investors in using financial ratio information as a basis for consideration in making investment decisions.
