Abstract

This study aims to identify the problems experienced by prisoners living with HIV/AIDS and the social services needed by them at the Class IA Malang Correctional Institution, as well as to examine the implementation of social service policies. Prisoners living with HIV/AIDS are considered a vulnerable group who face various medical, psychological, and social problems. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving correctional officers and prisoners living with HIV/AIDS as informants. The results show that prisoners living with HIV/AIDS experience health problems such as opportunistic infections, psychological issues including stress and anxiety, and social problems such as stigma and discrimination. The implementation of social service policies has been carried out through health services, psychological counseling, and spiritual guidance. However, the implementation has not been fully optimal, indicating the need to improve health services, psychosocial support, and education related to HIV/AIDS.
