Abstract

The development of digital media has encouraged culinary news portals to adapt to search engine-based audience behavior. However, low organic traffic and engagement remain major challenges due to suboptimal SEO implementation. This paper focuses on the application of Search Engine Optimization in culinary news portal content production to increase visibility and user engagement. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the application of SEO to increase engagement and traffic on digital news portals.
This paper uses the concepts of online journalism, culinary journalism, and Search Engine Optimization as a theoretical foundation. SEO is understood as a digital concept encompassing on-page, off-page, and technical optimization to improve content relevance to search engines and user experience. In the context of culinary journalism, SEO plays a role in strengthening content distribution, building media credibility, and increasing audience engagement through content structure, keyword selection, and the integration of user experience principles.
The method used in designing the creative work uses a descriptive-qualitative approach based on digital data. The stages include pre-production research, planning, production, monitoring, and evaluation. Data was collected through website traffic analysis, keyword research, and observation of user behavior. The analysis was conducted by comparing traffic and engagement performance before and after SEO implementation.
The results show that structured SEO implementation can increase organic traffic, visit duration, and user interaction on culinary news portals. Content optimization based on relevant keywords and a search engine-friendly article structure significantly contribute to increased engagement. This work recommends the implementation of sustainable SEO integrated with journalistic principles to strengthen the competitiveness of digital culinary media.
