Abstract
Pakcoy mustard (Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis) is one of the vegetable commodities that can be cultivated as microgreens and belongs to the same genus as mustard greens. Microgreens are known as plants harvested immediately after the cotyledon leaves have formed, generally within a period of 7–14 days after planting. This study aimed to examine the effect of growing media types on the growth and yield of pakcoy mustard microgreens. The experimental design applied in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one treatment factor, consisting of: A1 (100% rice husk charcoal), A2 (100% cocopeat), A3 (75% rice husk charcoal + 25% cocopeat), A4 (25% rice husk charcoal + 75% cocopeat), and A5 (50% rice husk charcoal + 50% cocopeat). The observation parameters measured in this study included plant height, number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, shoot fresh weight, germination rate, and plant growth speed. The observational data were subsequently analyzed statistically using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) method, followed by the Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test at a 5% significance level. The research findings indicated that the germination rate parameter showed a highly significant effect, while the other parameters did not demonstrate a significant effect across all treatments. Nevertheless, the combined treatment of 50% rice husk charcoal + 50% cocopeat yielded the highest values compared to all other treatments. Keywords: planting medium, microgreenss, growth
