Abstract

This research is motivated by the rapid development of the tourism sector in Batu City, which has positioned tourism as one of the main pillars of regional development. The increasing number of tourist visits has had a positive impact on the regional economy; however, it has also led to various challenges, such as visitor overcrowding, traffic congestion, pressure on infrastructure, and the potential for environmental degradation.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the strategies implemented by the Batu City Government in developing tourism destinations and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in their implementation. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation.

The results indicate that the Batu City Government’s strategies for tourism destination development are implemented through destination development planning programs, improvement of infrastructure quality and supporting facilities, empowerment of local communities, and strengthening collaboration with various stakeholders. The government also promotes the development of tourism villages and the application of sustainable tourism concepts to maintain a balance between economic growth, environmental conservation, and the preservation of local culture.
