Abstract

Children's school readiness is an important factor in supporting educational success. This study examines the impact of parental involvement on children's school readiness, with children's gender and socioeconomic status (SES) as moderating variables. This quantitative study employed a convenience sampling technique involving 221 parents of children aged 5–6 years in kindergarten B. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error. School readiness was measured using the scale by Fayez et al. (2016), which consists of 42 items assessing children's basic skills. Parental involvement was measured using the scale by McWayne et al. (2015), which consists of 40 items
assessing parental participation in children's learning. Data were analysed using moderated regression analysis (MRA) with the SPSS PROCESS Macro. The results showed that parental involvement significantly influenced children's school readiness (β = 0.54; p = 0.00). However, gender and socioeconomic status did not moderate this relationship.
