Abstract

This research is driven by the low mastery of mathematics in Indonesia, particularly in the subject of fractions, which is often perceived as difficult and aatedious by fourth-grade elementary school students. Observations at SDN 01 Mulyoagung Malang revealed that students frequently struggle to distinguish between numerators and denominators and lose focus due to monotonous teaching methods that rely solely on textbooks. This study aims to develop and examine the development process of "PACEO" (Audio Fraction Board) as an innovative learning media that integrates concrete objects and audio features to enhance students' understanding of addition and subtraction of fractions with like denominators.
The research followed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The developed product is a foldable 60x60 cm wooden board featuring detachable fraction blocks on the front and an audio system on the back to provide independent guidance for students. Data were collected through validation sheets and questionnaires.
The results indicated that the PACEO media is highly feasible, based on media expert validation with a score of 90% and material expert validation with a score of 83%. Field testing with 17 fourth-grade students showed a very positive response with a success rate of 95%. In conclusion, the PACEO media is effective in increasing learning motivation, assisting concentration through audio features, and simplifying the understanding of abstract fraction concepts through multisensory manipulation of concrete objects.
