Abstract
The phenomenon of low job satisfaction among baristas in Malang City is reflected in high employee turnover, frequent absenteeism, and irregular working hours. These conditions encouraged this study to examine the influence of social support on baristas’ job satisfaction. This study aimed to analyze the effect of social support derived from family, friends, and significant others on job satisfaction using a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis. A total of 154 baristas participated as respondents through accidental sampling. Data were collected using social support and job satisfaction scales that had demonstrated adequate validity and reliability. The results of the multiple regression analysis indicated that social support did not have a significant simultaneous effect on job satisfaction, as shown by an F value of 0.758 with a significance level of 0.520. Partially, family support, friend support, and significant other support also did not show significant effects on job satisfaction. These findings suggest that baristas’ job satisfaction is more strongly influenced by factors other than social support, such as compensation, role clarity, workload, and working conditions. The implications of this study emphasize the importance for café managers to focus more on structural and operational organizational aspects that directly affect baristas’ work experiences in order to improve job satisfaction.
