Abstract
This study is motivated by the increasing caregiving demands experienced by parents of children with special needs, which may lead to parenting stress. The purpose of this study is to describe the level of parenting stress among parents of children with special needs based on their residential areas. This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach involving 278 parents from Bali, Malang, and Surabaya. Data were collected using a parenting stress questionnaire distributed online via Google Form and analyzed using Jeffreys’s Amazing Statistics Program (JASP). The results indicate that the overall level of parenting stress among respondents falls within the moderate category. Based on regional analysis, all three regions showed a dominant moderate level of parenting stress, with Surabaya having the highest mean score compared to Bali and Malang. The variation in parenting stress scores reflects differences in caregiving experiences influenced by individual and environmental factors. These findings imply the need for continuous psychosocial support and targeted interventions for parents of children with special needs, taking into account the social and environmental contexts of each region.
