Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the factors contributing to the fail-ure of ecotourism management at the Puntukdoro campsite. This research em-ployed interviews, observations, and document reviews for data collection. The findings reveal that ecotourism management at Puntukdoro is still in the initial stage of destination introduction, marked by limited facilities, low community in-volvement, and the absence of a structured promotional strategy. In addition, the lack of clear short- and medium-term development targets and the absence of of-ficial planning documents, such as a Tourism Development Plan (TDP), have re-sulted in unstructured and ad hoc management practices.
This study is expected to provide benefits for various stakeholders, partic-ularly the local government, by offering strategic input to improve ecotourism management in Puntukdoro Village. It also aims to increase community aware-ness and encourage active participation in tourism development, while contrib-uting new knowledge and insights for readers regarding sustainable tourism and natural resource management.
Overall, the study concludes that ecotourism development at the Puntuk-doro campsite requires a more structured management system, documented plan-ning guidelines, improved human resource capacity, effective digital marketing strategies, and stronger community participation. These efforts are essential to achieving sustainable destination development that balances economic growth, social benefits, environmental conservation, and the preservation of local natural and cultural heritage.
