Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the religious guidance program implemented by students of the Pendidikan Ulama Tarjih Muhammadiyah (PUTM) in five assisted village mosques located in Kaliurang, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The main focus of this research includes four indicators: the level of congregational participation, the improvement of religious understanding, changes in worship behavior, and contributions to strengthening Islamic social life. In addition, this study seeks to identify internal and external factors that influence the success or challenges of the program, as well as to analyze community responses to its implementation. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research sites include five mosques: At-Taqwa Mosque, Al-Ikhlas Mosque, Al-Amiin Mosque, Al-Munawwaroh Mosque, and Al-Abror Mosque. The informants consist of PUTM students, mosque administrators (takmir), community leaders (HPPK and RISKA), and active congregants. Data collection techniques include participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data validity is ensured through source and method triangulation, member checking, as well as the application of dependability and confirmability principles. Data analysis is conducted through the stages of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing based on the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. The results indicate that the religious guidance program has been effective in improving both the understanding and practice of worship within the community. Positive transformations are observed at both individual and social levels, including increased congregational participation in religious activities, greater consistency in performing mahdhah (ritual) worship, and strengthened social solidarity. Success factors include the competence of the PUTM students, contextualized guidance strategies, and the involvement of local community leaders. Meanwhile, the challenges are related to limited flexibility in the instructional materials and a lack of varied approaches to address the heterogeneity of the community. This study recommends the replication of the program with adjustments to local contexts as an effective community-based da'wah strategy.
