Abstract

This study employs a sociological legal research method and uses a case approach as its research strategy. The research was conducted at the residence of WDS, located in Malang City, East Java. The findings indicate that WDS’s modus operandi in using marijuana involved smuggling techniques through stuffed dolls, interactions with peer distributors, and communal consumption in private spaces. Internal factors influencing WDS’s actions include emotional instability, curiosity,
and social pressure from the surrounding environment. External factors consist of a broken home family condition and a permissive social environment. Criminological theories such as social control and victimology were applied to explain the underlying causes of this drug abuse behavior. The study concludes that narcotics abuse cannot be separated from an individual’s vulnerability to environmental influences and weak social supervision. Comprehensive intervention from the family, community, and law enforcement authorities is required as part of preventive and rehabilitative efforts. The recommended measures include
strengthening family relationships, enhancing social communication, engaging in positive activities, and adopting spiritual approaches to prevent relapse intonarcotics abuse.
