Abstract
Self-injurious behavior, or self-injury, is a form of deliberate physical action carried
out by an individual to harm or inflict pain on their own body. This behavior may include
cutting, hitting oneself, or burning the body. One of the factors influencing self-injurious
behavior is emotional maturity, which is defined as an individual’s ability to regulate emotions,
accept themselves and others, take responsibility, and make rational decisions. This study is a
quantitative research aimed at examining the effect of emotional maturity on self-injurious
behavior among late adolescents in Malang City. The sample was obtained using accidental
sampling, consisting of 390 participants aged 17 to 21 years. The instruments used in this study
were the Emotional Maturity Scale with a reliability coefficient of 0.909 and the Self-Harm
Inventory (SHI) with a reliability coefficient of 0.831.The results of the simple linear regression
analysis showed an adjusted R-square of 0.533 and a standardized beta coefficient of -0.731
with a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that emotional maturity
affects self-injurious behavior among late adolescents in Malang City by 53.4%, with the
remaining variance influenced by other factors not examined in this study.
