Abstract

Background: Golf is a sport that requires precision, consistency, and biomechanical efficiency in every swing movement. Core stability exercise plays a role in maintaining postural control and optimizing energy transfer from the lower body to the upper body during the swing. With adequate core stability, golf performance, particularly in terms of accuracy and shot consistency, is expected to improve.
Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of a core stability exercise intervention on golf performance among athletes of UKM UMM Golf Club.
Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The study population consisted of athletes from UKM UMM Golf. A total sampling technique was applied, resulting in a sample of 30 participants. The research instruments used were a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and a golf scorecard.
Results: The results of data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a significance value of 0.655 (p > 0.05), indicating that there was no significant effect of the core stability exercise intervention on golf performance among athletes of the UKM UMM Golf Club.
Conclusion: There was no significant effect of the core stability exercise intervention on golf performance among athletes of the UMM Golf Club student activity unit.
