Abstract

High academic demands such as heavy workloads, examination pressure, limited time, and achievement expectations often lead to academic stress among university students. These conditions are experienced by both working students and non-working students, although with different pressure dynamics. This study aims to examine differences in academic stress and academic resilience between working and non-working students. This research employed a quantitative approach with a comparative design. The research participants consisted of working and non-working university students, with a total of 192 students enrolled in higher education institutions in the city of Malang. Data were collected using Perceived Sources of Academic Stress (PASS) and Academic Resilience Scale (ARS-30) and analyzed using comparative statistical tests. The results indicate that there are no significant differences in academic stress and academic resilience between working and non-working students. These findings suggest that employment status is not the main factor distinguishing students’ levels of academic stress and academic resilience, highlighting the importance of strengthening adaptive abilities and stress management for all students.
