Abstract

In the context of modern organizations, job satisfaction is a key factor that contributes to overall organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency. Numerous studies indicate that a high level of job satisfaction can enhance productivity, strengthen employee loyalty, and reduce employees’ intention to leave their jobs. This study aims to analyze the effects of role overload and work–life balance on employee job satisfaction using a quantitative approach involving 113 respondents. Categorization based on T-scores indicates a relatively balanced distribution across the variables of role overload, work– life balance, and job satisfaction, suggesting that employees are generally in a moderate condition. The results of multiple linear regression analysis reveal that role overload has a significant negative effect on job satisfaction (β = −0.423, p < 0.001), indicating that higher perceived role overload is associated with lower levels of job satisfaction. Conversely, work–life balance shows a significant positive effect (β = 0.414, p < 0.001), suggesting that a well-maintained balance between work and personal life can enhance employee job satisfaction. The regression model yields an R² value of 0.628, demonstrating that the two independent variables jointly explain 62.8% of the variance in job satisfaction. Further contribution analysis using beta coefficients and zero-order correlations indicates that role overload accounts for 31.7% of the variance, while work–life balance contributes 31.0%. Overall, the findings underscore that effective management of workload and the reinforcement of work–life balance are crucial factors for organizations in formulating human resource management strategies that are more adaptive to employees well-being needs.
