Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has brought various changes to people's lives, particularly in the use of social media and digital spaces. On the other hand, these developments have also given rise to new forms of crime, one of which is the practice of doxing, which is the act of disseminating someone's personal data without consent through electronic media. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of doxing and the urgency of its regulation in Indonesian criminal law. The research method used is normative legal research with a statutory and conceptual approach. The results show that the characteristics of doxing include the use of personal data as the object of the act, being carried out without the consent of the data subject, being carried out through electronic media, and causing harm to the victim, including psychological, social, and personal security. Indonesian criminal law still lacks specific provisions regarding doxing, creating a legal vacuum and the potential for multiple interpretations in law enforcement. Therefore, more comprehensive and harmonized regulations are needed to provide legal certainty and optimal protection for people's privacy rights in the digital space.
