Abstract
Perfectionism and academic procrastination are two psychological aspects related to the academic behavior of working students. This study aimed to examine the relationship between perfectionism and academic procrastination among working students. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed in this study. The participants consisted of 123 working students, both part-time and full-time, who were selected using a snowball sampling technique. Perfectionism was measured using a modified version of the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale developed by Hewitt and Flett, while academic procrastination was measured using the Academic Procrastination Scale based on the dimensions proposed by Milgram. Data were analyzed using Spearman Rank correlation due to the non-normal distribution of the data. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between perfectionism and academic procrastination among working students (ρ = –0.084; p > 0.05). These findings indicate that academic procrastination among working students is more closely associated with situational and contextual factors than with the personality characteristic of perfectionism.
