Abstract
Academic procrastination is a common problem faced by students in completing their academic assignments. Self-control, as an individual's ability to regulate and control their behavior, is thought to play an important role in reducing academic procrastination, but intensive use of TikTok social media can mediate this relationship. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of self-control on academic procrastination mediated by the intensity of TikTok social media use in students. This research method used a quantitative design with a correlational approach. The subjects were 277 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instruments used included a self-control scale, an academic procrastination scale, and a scale of intensity of TikTok social media use. Data analysis used mediation analysis with the bootstrap technique through PROCESS macro Hayes Model 4. The results of the analysis showed that self-control directly influences academic procrastination, where the higher a student's self-control, the higher their academic procrastination. The results obtained from this study indicate that the intensity of TikTok social media use does not play a mediating role between self-control and academic procrastination with results (β = 0.0310 CI = -0.0214 to 0.0862).
