Abstract
Students living away from home often experience loneliness due to adapting to a new environment and limited direct social interaction, making social media the primary means of self-expression. This study examines the relationship between loneliness and self-disclosure among students living away from home in Malang who actively use social media such as Instagram, TikTok, and X. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between loneliness and self-disclosure among social media users among migrant students in Malang City. This study used a correlational
quantitative research design with a sample of 225 migrant students. The research instruments used in this study were loneliness scales and self-disclosure scales. Data was analyzed using Spearman's correlation after the Shapiro-Wilk normality test showed that the data was not normal. The results of the study indicate a significant
relationship between the level of loneliness and the openness of social media users among migrant students. The findings confirm that social media as a coping mechanism for loneliness can be a factor that influences how migrant students open up in online
communication.
