Abstract
Background: Post-stroke patients often experience dynamic balance disorders due to decreased postural control, muscle weakness, and sensorimotor disorders. This condition causes an inability to maintain body stability when moving, thereby increasing the risk of falling. The risk of falling in post-stroke patients can cause injury, hinder the rehabilitation process, and reduce independence and quality of life.
Objective: This study aims to assess the relationship between dynamic balance and the risk of falling in post-stroke patients in Matahari Home Care and clinic Akupuntur Medik Rinjani.
Methods: This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of Malang residents with a history of stroke who met the criteria. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling with a sample of 55 respondents. The research instruments used were the Time Up and Go (TUG) and Morse Fall Scale (MFS). Dynamic balance was measured using the Timed Up and Go (TUG) Test, while the risk of falling was measured using the Morse Fall Scale (MFS). The data in this study used the Kolmogorov normality test and the Spearman rho correlation test.
Results: The results of data analysis in the normality test for the dynamic balance variable showed a p-value of 0.000 and for the fall risk variable a p-value of 0.034 (p<0.05), which means that both variables are not normally distributed. Conclusion: There is a relationship between dynamic balance and the risk of falling in post-stroke patients in Matahari Home Care and Klinik Akupuntur Medik Rinjani.
