Abstract
Students who are in the process of writing their thesis are vulnerable to academic pressure that can trigger academic burnout. This study aims to examine the role of resilience and social support in academic burnout among thesis-writing students. The research employed a correlational quantitative method with a sample of 150 students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, cohorts 2019–2021, selected through convenience sampling. The research instruments included the CD-RISC, MSPSS, and SPBM, with data analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicate that resilience and social support simultaneously have a significant effect on academic burnout; however, partially, neither variable has a significant effect. The implications of this study suggest that resilience and social support alone are not sufficient to be the main factors in reducing academic burnout without being supported by effective academic pressure management and a more adaptive thesis completion system.
