KAJIAN PENCARIAN JATI DIRI TOKOH UTAMA DALAM NOVEL SENDIRI DAN REMBULAN TENGGELAM DI WAJAHMU KARYA TERE LIYE PERSPEKTIF PSIKOANALISTIK JUNG

This research is entitled "A Study of the Protagonist's Search for Identity in the Novels Sendiri and Rembulan Tenggelam di Wajahmu by Tere Liye from a Jung Psychoanalytic Perspective." The objective of this study is to examine the process of self-discovery experienced by the main characters in these two novels through the psychoanalytic approach of Carl Gustav Jung. Employing a qualitative methodology, this research utilizes close reading and thematic analysis techniques to identify key elements such as inner conflict, symbolism, persona, shadow, and the individuation process of the protagonists.
The findings indicate that the protagonists in “Sendiri” and “Rembulan Tenggelam di Wajahmu” undergo complex inner journeys in their search for self-identity. Internal conflicts, loneliness, past trauma, and emotional interactions with other characters play crucial roles in this identity-seeking process. Through self-reflection and confrontation with the unconscious self (“shadow”), the protagonists gradually attempt to integrate various aspects of their personalities to achieve self-realization and wholeness.
This study contributes theoretically by enriching the application of Jung’s psychoanalytic theory in literary studies, especially in analyzing the theme of identity formation within fictional works. Practically, it offers benefits for readers, writers, and educators in understanding the psychological dynamics of literary characters and their relevance to everyday human experiences.
