Abstract
This study aims to analyze in depth the implementation of the peer-teaching learning method on student interaction and analyze the form and characteristics of interactions between students in mathematics learning using the peer-teaching method during the process in grade VII at Muhammadiyah 2 Batu Junior High School. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with observation and interview techniques to describe in depth the dynamics of group discussions, the role of peer tutors, and the forms of student interaction that emerged. The results show that the implementation of the peer-teaching method encourages students to be more active in asking questions, expressing opinions, requesting and providing clarification, correcting mistakes, and displaying various nonverbal expressions that support the negotiation of conceptual meaning, although the level of activity between groups and individuals still varies. It can be concluded that the peer-teaching method contributes to student interaction and student learning independence in mathematics learning.
