Abstract

The phenomenon of cyber-aggression has been increasing in the digital era, particularly among TikTok users who actively engage in online interactions. Cyber-aggression refers to intentional aggressive behavior conducted through digital media with the aim of hurting or humiliating others. One factor presumed to influence this behavior is self-control, defined as an individual's ability to regulate impulses and emotions. This study aims to examine the effect of self-control on cyber-aggression behavior among TikTok users. The research employed a quantitative approach with a simple linear regression design. The sample consisted of 401 respondents aged 15–25 years, selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used were the Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS) and the Cyber-Aggression Typology
Questionnaire (CATQ). The analysis results showed that self-control significantly affects cyberaggression (β = 1.392; p < 0.001) with a contribution of 18.4% (R² = 0.184). These findings suggest that individuals with higher self-control tend to display more rational and planned forms of cyber-aggression. This study highlights the importance of digital literacy and selfregulation training to ensure that self-control is applied adaptively in social media interactions.
