Abstract
Children with global developmental delay (GDD) experience obstacles in gross motor skills that impact balance, coordination, and independence. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the KARISMA (Children's Sensory Motor Carpet) media to improve gross motor skills in children with GDD. This type of quantita tive research uses a single subject research (SSR) method, an A-B-A design consisting of three phases: baseline, intervention, and follow-up. The subject of the study was a 4-year-9-month-old boy diagnosed with GDD by a psychologist at a therapy center. Improvement in gross motor skills was measured using an observation instrument compiled based on six aspects of the sensory motor pyramid of learning stage, namely body schema, reflex maturity, filtering sensory stimuli, postural safety, awareness of both sides of the body, and movement planning. The results showed significant improvements from the baseline, intervention, and follow up stages, especially in the body schema aspect. Thus, KARISMA is effective in improving gross motor skills in children with GDD through structured and fun sensorimotor activities. Future research may integrate KARISMA for gross and fine motor stimulation, and parents are encouraged to continue home-based stimulation to optimize outcomes.
