Abstract

The rewang tradition is a form of mutual cooperation culture that is still preserved by the community of Kranggan Village. This tradition is manifested through the voluntary participation of community members in assisting the implementation of social events, particularly wedding ceremonies, starting from the preparation stage, the main event, to the post-event stage. This study aims to describe the implementation of the rewang tradition and to analyze its role in maintaining social solidarity within the community of Kranggan Village. The research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, village officials, and community members involved in the rewang tradition, as well as documentation. The results of the study indicate that the rewang tradition in Kranggan Village is still actively and consistently practiced, especially in wedding ceremonies, and has become a living social practice within the community. The implementation of rewang is carried out through three main stages: the pre-event stage, the event implementation stage, and the post-event stage. During the pre-event stage, community members voluntarily come to assist with various preparations, such as cooking, preparing food ingredients, making traditional snacks, setting up tents, and distributing informal invitations. The event implementation stage is characterized by community cooperation in serving food, welcoming guests, and ensuring the smooth running of the event. Meanwhile, in the post-event stage, community members remain actively involved in cleaning up equipment, dismantling tents, and preparing meals as a form of appreciation for the rewang participants.
