Abstract
Mathematical reasoning skills are an important competency in mathematics learning, but they are still relatively low among junior high school students in Indonesia. One of the reasons for this is that learning does not actively involve students in a collaborative manner. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of applying Project-Based Learning (PjBL) integrated with a collaborative approach on the mathematical reasoning skills of junior high school students.
This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. The research sample consisted of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Pagak, Malang Regency, in the 2024/2025 academic year. The learning material focused on the topic of data, including types of data, data collection techniques, and data presentation in the form of bar charts and pie charts. Data were collected through mathematical reasoning ability tests and observation sheets, then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.
The results showed that the integration of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and the collaborative approach had a significant effect on the mathematical reasoning skills of junior high school students. This was indicated by a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores and an improvement in all indicators of mathematical reasoning skills. Thus, the integration of Project-Based Learning and the collaborative approach was proven to have a positive effect on the mathematical reasoning skills of junior high school students.
