Abstract
Background: Professional nursing students are required to manage multiple academic and clinical responsibilities simultaneously. The complexity of academic tasks, clinical practice schedules, and learning demands requires effective time management to maintain optimal learning motivation. Inadequate time management may lead to academic fatigue, stress, and decreased learning motivation, which can negatively affect students’ academic performance
and professional development.
Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between time management and learning motivation among professional nursing students.
Method: This study employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 74 professional nursing students from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, selected using purposive sampling.
Data were collected using time management and learning motivation questionnaires. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Pearson correlation test with a significance level of p < 0.05.
Result: The results showed a statistically significant positive relationship between time management and learning motivation among professional nursing students, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.477 and a significance value of p < 0.001. This finding
indicates a moderate positive correlation, suggesting that students with better time management skills tend to have higher levels of learning motivation.
Conclusion: Time management is significantly associated with learning motivation among professional nursing students. Better time management skills are linked to higher learning motivation, enabling students to manage academic and clinical demands more effectively. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening time management skills as part of educational strategies in nursing programs to support students’ motivation and learning outcomes.
