PENGARUH SELF-PRESENTATION TERHADAP AGRESIVITAS VERBAL DALAM INTERAKSI PENGGEMAR K-POP PADA MEDIA SOSIAL

Social media has become an integral part of people’s daily lives. One community that actively engages with social media is K-pop fans. The high penetration of the internet and the freedom of social media use in Indonesia provide many benefits; however, they also create opportunities for various negative impacts, one of which is the increasing occurrence of verbal aggressiveness and the prevalence of self-presentation behaviors. This study aims to examine the effect of self-presentation on verbal aggressiveness among K-pop fans on social media. This study employed a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The participants were K-pop fans aged 15–30 years who actively use social media and have been part of a fandom for at least one year. Convenience sampling was used as the sampling technique. The research instruments included the Verbal Aggressiveness Scale (VAS) and the Self-Presentation on Facebook Questionnaire (SPFBQ). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results indicated a significant positive effect of self-presentation on verbal aggressiveness in social media interactions among K-pop fans, with a positive regression coefficient of 0.227. This positive coefficient confirms a unidirectional relationship between the two variables, indicating that the higher an individual’s tendency to engage in self-presentation on social media, the greater the likelihood of expressing verbal aggressiveness.
