Abstract

Stroke is a disease that can cause physical, psychological, and social changes in patients, requiring long-term care, particularly from family members. Family involvement plays an important role in providing care for post-stroke patients at home. This study aims to explore the experiences of families in caring for family members who have experienced stroke . This research used a qualitative method with a case study approach. The subject of the study was one family member who acted as the primary caregiver for a post-stroke patient. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative analysis techniques, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of techniques and time. The results of the study showed that families experienced various challenges in caring for post-stroke patients, including physical fatigue, emotional burden, limited knowledge about stroke care, and constraints in time and resources. However, families also demonstrated positive coping strategies such as seeking information, adapting caregiving routines, and receiving support from other family members. These findings indicate that family support and adequate knowledge are essential to improve the quality of care for post-stroke patients at home.
