Abstract
Political dynamics in Indonesia indicate increasing job demand mentality among legislative members, including those of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Palopo. This study aims to examine the effect of job demand mentality on the job performance of DPRD Palopo members. A quantitative non-experimental design was employed using a total sampling technique involving all 25 members of DPRD Palopo for the 2024–2029 period. The research instruments consisted of a job performance scale based on the Indonesian-adapted IWPQ and a job demand mentality scale developed within the job demands–resources framework. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression at a 0.05 significance level. The results of the simple linear regression analysis indicate that job demand mentality has a positive and significant effect on job performance, with an R² value of 0.292 (p = 0.005). These findings suggest that mental job demands function as challenges that can enhance job performance.
