Abstract

Background : Around 800 women worldwide die due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth, most of which occur due to unwanted pregnancies. Which should be prevented by using contraception. The SDGs program has been carried out in various countries, but reports in Indonesia have still not achieved the target to date. Indonesia is one of the developing countries where maternal deaths continue to increase due to complications. According to the BKKBN report from 2018-2022 regarding the use of family planning in Indonesia, which has still not reached the target, the need for family planning is still unmet. So, it was concluded that the failure to achieve the family planning program through contraceptive methods was due to less-than-optimal IEC efforts regarding family planning programs and contraceptive use in Indonesia. Certain factors may cause this lack of effort.
The aim : assess the factors that influence contraceptive use in women of childbearing age in Indonesia
Method : This study used a cross-sectional design from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic Health Survey (IDHS) data. 69.285 women in the reproductive age group were involved in this study. Three analyses are used in this research, namely univariate analysis, which uses descriptive statistical frequency tests to summarize and classify data. Bivariate analysis chi-square test to determine whether the selected independent variables have a relationship between the characteristics of the respondents. Multivariate analysis with a multiple logistic regression test analyzes the relationship between the most dominant variables between several independent variables (variable >1) and one dependent variable on a nominal scale.
Results : The bivariate analysis results showed that the thirteen factors studied significantly influenced contraceptive use. However, when analyzed in a multivariate manner using a multiple logistic regression test, there was one factor that did not have a significant influence on contraceptive use, namely employment status, and the results of the most dominating factor influencing contraceptive use in Indonesia, namely the educational level of women of childbearing age.
Conclusion : The research that has been carried out gives the final result that the factors that influence contraception among women of childbearing age in Indonesia are the most dominant factor in influencing the influence of education level.
